History of the Society
History of the Society

The Society was formed in 1938, at a meeting in the Presbyterian Church, on the 16th November.

30 people were present and Mr Dean Menzies was asked to chair the meeting. Mr James Slaven was elected Chief. Descendants of his are still members today.

Membership was set at 5 shillings a year.

The Society recessed during the war and after the war Mr Herb Possingham was elected Chief and the band was formed. The Band's instruments were dedicated in the Presbyterian Church in the 1950s

A lot has happened since then, and our members are currently compiling a detailed history for inclusion here.

So check back at a later date, and you may find a lot more to read!
